INSTALLING MICROSOFT OFFICE ON LINUX WITH WINE

We can use WINETRICKS or PLAYONLINUX

WITH WINETRICKS

PRO:

– The installation is “cleaner” and MS Office seems to start faster than with PlayOnLinux.

CON:

– It’s more complicated to know what and how to install, but there are guides on the internet that explain the step-by-step installation.

WITH PLAYONLINUX

You should, as much as possible, choose the configuration of the program to install from the list presented by PlayOnLinux itself. This list does not install the program, it is used for the automatic configuration of WineHQ according to the program to be installed.

PRO:

– installation is simpler, since PlayOnLinux configures Wine according to the program to be installed.

CON:

– The initiation of MS Office seems to be a bit slower than with Winetricks. In addition, when starting MS Office often a previous update of the Wine takes place, which can be annoying.

COMPARISON BETWEEN THE INSTALLATION OF MS OFFICE 2007 AND MS OFFICE 2010 USING WINE:

– In MS Office 2007 it is easier to activate the product but it is more difficult to install other language tools.

– In MS Office 2010 it is more difficult to activate the product but the process of installing linguistic correctors from other languages is simpler.
